Get to Know the Author - Priscilla Oliveras

Meet Priscilla Oliveras

Why did you become an author?

I've always been a reader and in high school I was drawn to the written word with short stories. In college, I had to take a semester off due to a surprise military move, and as a young mom and spouse in search of a way to fill my time during that semester, I decided to try writing a book like the ones I frequently devoured. Twenty-six years packed with highs and lows, love and sorrow later, I signed my first contract and sold my first series to Kensington Books. Bringing Latinx characters to life for readers, sharing the Latinx culture, showing gente like me, like my familia and many of my friends, living and loving and prospering through the stories I write...it's a true blessing. I'm proud to be part of the small but growing Latinx Romance comunidad.

What are you reading right now?

I just got an ARC of Farrah Rochon's upcoming The Dating Playbook (releasing this summer)...I am LOVING it!

Have you ever been to the Bronx? If so, what's a favorite memory? If not, what do you know or think about the Bronx?

The only part of the Bronx I've been able to visit so far is Yankee Stadium. As a HUGE baseball fan, I'm sad I never got to visit the original stadium where Gehrig, Ruth, Berra, Mantle, and other greats ran the bases and played the field, but experiencing a game at the new stadium was a cool experience. And, I know there's far more to the Bronx than simply baseball, so I look forward to visiting again soon!

What is a quote you live by?

"Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good."--Minor Myers, Jr.
